Why Organic Meat Makes The Grade

Organic meat has one huge advantage over supermarket meat – it is traceable back to the farm on which it was reared, making it truly a food you can trust. The certification records every stage in the animal’s life, as well as the production process before it lands on our plates, which protects consumers from food fraud and contamination.

Organic farmers have to adhere to stringent standards, with the focus on putting animal welfare first. In order to meet these standards, the farmers and manufacturers must consider living conditions, use of antibiotics and hormones, transport, slaughter, and of course; overall food quality.

Animals being raised in these conditions receive the highest welfare standards of farmed animals, and as such are healthier and better able to resist disease.

Organic livestock farming methods aim to promote a healthy environment for the animals including appropriate diet; to be as natural as possible and free from genetically modified organisms (GMOs), have access to fields and space to roam within housing, and stress reducing steps must be taken.

Organic meat also tastes great, which – and this may come as a surprise to some – is the result of a happy animal, allowed to grow in a stress free environment in the way that nature intended. The natural feed also results in tastier meat and the fact that organic animals are often fed on grass means that their meat usually contains less saturated fat, which is great for our waistlines. Organic meat is rich in good stuff, with higher levels of Vitamin E than other types of meat, as well as a range of super nutrients like Omega-3 fats and CLA.

Our range of organic meat comes from the Rhug Estate in Denbighshire, with its Pedigree Aberdeen Angus herd and poultry reared to full organic standards. We offer a wide selection of delicious organic meats from the estate including organic pork sausages, lean beef mince and whole chickens.

If you care about what you are eating or feeding your family then organic meat is safe, better for you, better for the animals and better for the environment. For more information about our range of meats, as well as their origins, feel free to get in touch.
