Hannah Hamshere Shares Her Guide to Working-Out
Hannah Hamshere, Pilates teachers and Adidas Runners’ London Captain, shares her top tips for preparing for an intense workout and how to look after your body afterwards too.
Pre-Workout
Fuel up
I'm terrible at working out on an empty stomach. My favourite pre workout is the caramel chocolate peanut Pulsin bar. It’s small enough that it doesn't overfill me but is rich in protein and natural ingredients to keep me going on the longer runs - it's also delicious! I also like to drink a small Rebel Kitchen Coconut Water. Again it's not going to fill me up too much but is just enough hydration to help me keep going - you want to stay light and agile. I'm very picky about coconut water but I think this is one of the best and it has to be naturally pink in colour.

Don’t forget your skin
Before a workout, I will always make sure to remove any make-up on my skin. Especially before a run! I really like the Rawganic aloe vera and green tea facial wipes to clean my face so my pores don't clog. They’re gentle on my skin and don't have any harsh chemicals, which I love. It’s so important to protect your skin from the sun, even if it isn’t sunny outside, so I will apply a facial sunscreen like the Sukin SPF 30 sheer touch.

Post-Workout
Replenish
It’s so important to replenish your body with a healthy combination of protein and carbs for good recovery and muscle gain. So I will always carry a protein shaker filled with Form Protein powder for my post workout snack - just fill the shaker with water and shake for a delicious protein shake. I have been using this for years - it’s the best vegan protein I’ve ever had and has the cleanest ingredients. I love how the superblend has a lot of green veggie powders for extra minerals - I usually go for vanilla.

Rehydrate
I am a big water drinker throughout the day but after a long run, sometimes I need something more. Nuun Sport Hydration in Watermelon is an amazing way to replenish your body with electrolytes after losing sweat. It’s in a dissolvable tablet so you can easily keep it in your bag and then pop into your water bottle. It’s the perfect hydration!

Soak
At the end of a long day with a big workout, there is no better way than to treat your body with a magnesium salt bath. It’s a great way to relax your tired muscles and can help with quicker recovery time.
