That’s why we are incredibly proud and delighted to announce our new partnership with City Harvest, London’s pioneering food redistribution charity.
In a city as vibrant as ours, the co-existence of food poverty and food waste is a paradox we simply cannot ignore. Tonnes of perfectly good, fresh food is wasted every day, whilst millions of people struggle to access a healthy meal. This is a problem we have always worked to solve, and in City Harvest, we have found a partner that shares our values and our urgency.
Who Are City Harvest?
For those who may not know them, City Harvest is a remarkable organisation. They are on the front lines of change, rescuing nutritious surplus food from businesses just like ours and delivering it, for free, to over 350 London community projects. We’re talking about homeless shelters, food banks, centres for the elderly, and refuges for women and children.
Since 2014, their iconic vans have become a symbol of hope, delivering food that has provided over 80 million meals to Londoners in need. Their work is not just about feeding people; it’s about providing the healthy, nutritious food that is essential for true wellness.
City Harvest London food redistribution charity rescues nutritious surplus food from across the UK food supply chain, including farms, manufacturers, wholesalers, and retailers, and delivers it, for free, to over 130,000 every week via organisations feeding those facing food poverty. City Harvest rescues food, people, and the planet by preventing food waste, providing life-changing support to communities across London through food, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions from waste.
City Harvest vans deliver from its 3 London sites to food banks, homeless shelters, hostels, soup kitchens, mental health charities, projects supporting the elderly and socially isolated, social pantries, community kitchens, refugee hostels, schools and nurseries, family centres and domestic abuse refuges.
The food charity now distributes free food for more than 1.3 million meals a month as demand for free food intensifies amid rising food, fuel and housing costs. Nearly 50% of what City Harvest delivers to its community partners is free, fresh produce - from farms, growers, wholesale markets, and retailers - as every adult and child deserves to have access to healthy, nutritious food.

Starting this month, for every single fresh juice or smoothie you buy from our in-store bars, Planet Organic will donate 10p directly to City Harvest.
This isn't just a small donation; it adds up to a major impact. Every £1 we raise together allows City Harvest to deliver three nutritious meals. Our goal, with your help, is to fund 30,000 meals this year.
By simply enjoying your daily smoothie, you’ll be directly helping to get nourishing food to someone who needs it.
